MEAP continued...

As you know, last week our class completed the Reading and Writing portion of the MEAP. This week on Tuesday the students will be taking the Math portion of the MEAP, and on Wednesday they will be finishing the Writing portion. Please make sure your child is eating a healthy breakfast every morning and getting a good night sleep, so they can do their best! There will be a substitute on Friday October 18th.

Spirit Week!

Also, this week kicks off Spirit Week!  Monday-pajama day, Tuesday-sports team/college day, Wednesday-crazy sock day, Thursday- backwards day, Friday-green and white day.  
Our Annual healthy hike is Friday. Please encourage your child to collect pledges!  
Friday is an early release day, Woodside releases at 12:30!  Have a Great week.

On our way...

With two weeks under our belt, we are going to continue to prepare ourselves for the MEAP test over the next couple of weeks.

We are going to begin working on the fourth grade curriculum.  Any test that comes home, from this point on, will be graded and recorded using Pinnacle, the online grading system.  If a student fails to earn 80% on a test, they will have to set up a time to retake the test, to earn mastery in that specific area. 

We have a visual chart in our classroom to manage behavior.  Everyone starts the week on "Ready to Learn."  Students can either maintain their status, improve to "Role Model," and "Outstanding," or drop below expectations to "Make Better Choices," and "Parent Contact."  Ask your student, on Friday, where there clip was at the end of the week.   We will continue to cover the rules and expectations daily.

Off to a fast Start!

      What a busy week!  We have been working on pretests, a lot of them, getting to know you activities, and expectations (rules) for our school/classroom.  Next week, we will be ready to dive into the math and reading curriculum, and continue to prepare ourselves for the M.E.A.P. test in October.
       Remind your child to read thirty minutes daily, this will keep them on track to meet their goal of 50% by October 1st.   If they do not meet this goal, they will be a "Recess Reader."  Recess Readers stay in last recess to read, until they are back on track.
       Please check and sign the planner daily, it is the student's responsibility to have it filled out and ready for you to sign.
